BUILDER FEEDBACK ON ERECTION OF ROOF TRUSSES RIGGED WITH GERRYRIGS GR-1 AND GR-3
Tom Greer, Greer and Associates, General Contractors, Charlottesville, Va:
“We had the pleasure of using the GERRYRIGS truss braces and uplift anchors while installing a truss package last week. They were easy to use, my crew thought they were terrific, and they saved us considerable time and money.
Observations on the GR-1 brace:
Rapid alignment of the top chord without the need of handling and installing loose 2x4 blocks gets you to the next truss much quicker, with no need for measuring. Installation of GR-1 on the bottom chord and intermittent webbing as you go creates a permanent installation with no need to come back and re-brace assemblies. Sheathing starts as soon as the crane leaves. Considerable 2x4 is saved, as well as the cleanup and disposal.
Observations on the GR-3 anchor:
Installing it on one end of a truss on the ground perfectly aligns the truss on the plate, eliminating the need for string lines, tapes, and awkward manipulation. Installing it on the opposite plate helps with alignment, and takes toe nailing and splitting out of the equation. No need to come back with hurricane straps.
The end result was a faster than expected installation, crew reduced by one man, easy accuracy, and no waste of material. If these were offered as an option by any truss manufacturer, we would request them every time.”
Brad Bryant, foreman, Greer and Associates:
“GERRYRIGS take time savings to a new extreme by combining safety and convenience during truss setting.”
Scott Harlan, foreman, Greer and Associates:
“These metal braces are great, and a time saver! They increase accuracy and safety by improving material handling. It is the best improvement to setting trusses I have seen in my 20 years of construction.”
